'Muscle' 2009

French designer Alexandre Moronnoz has introduced a new piece to his expanding urban furniture collection. Made from steel and named 'Muscle', he wanted it to resemble the tendons of a muscle - each metal blade compressing and stretching to be as dynamic as live movement. 'Muscle' joins his other works 'Y' and 'Intereferences' as design alternatives to standard commerical seating.

Designed by Hay Studio, the Mags Sofa is available as a 2-seater, 2.5-seater and a 3-seater lounge - and from personal experience, it's also comfortable with the back at the perfect height to rest your arms. We also like the artwork by Cathrine Raben Davidsen in the background.

What looks to be carved out of volcanic rock is actually a chair cut by hand from 16 layers of expanded polypropylene foam.
